Llama House Children’s Books offers a professional editing service for independently self-published authors across the globe, with a specialist service for rhyming picture books. Our resident author, Becci Murray, will use her background as a music teacher, editor and writer to polish your rhymes, rhythms and metre for manuscripts of up to 1,500 words. 

Areas covered include:

• rhyme – suggestions of words that either rhyme better or feel like a more natural fit in the narrative. Rhymes can often feel forced, like the word is only there because it rhymes. Becci will offer alternative rhymes to give you a more genuine feel to your writing.
• rhythm – if the metre of a poem is a little ‘off’ it can upset the flow of a story. Becci comes from a very musical background, which helps her enormously when perfecting the rhythm of a poem.
• syllable emphasis – if the emphasis of a word falls on the wrong syllable, it can become difficult to read. Becci will edit your work to ensure this is not the case.
• proofreading – we’ll catch all those pesky typos and grammatical errors.
• retain YOUR voice – as an author herself, Becci fully understands that your voice as a writer is incredibly important. Her editing will not take anything away from this. Your book is your project, and we’re just here to polish it up and make it shine even more than it already does.

We understand that independent publishing can often be expensive, so we do our best to offer our editing packages at an affordable price. Clients receive two documents upon delivery of their edits: a review document and your edited book. Don’t see a package that suits your needs?
